Interim measures for garden waste at City drop-off sites continue

Residents and businesses are reminded to please be aware that temporary arrangements are in place for garden waste at City Community Recycling Centres (previously known as drop-off facilities) until further notice.

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate has implemented temporary measures to help manage garden waste drop-off services across Community Recycling Centres while a contractor is experiencing challenges related to fuel shortages. 
 
These interim arrangements have been effective from Saturday, 28 March 2026, and are expected to remain in place until further notice when the operational conditions stabilise.

Garden waste drop-off for businesses

Businesses need to dispose of garden waste exclusively at Coastal Park and Tygerdal facilities until further notice.
 
Garden waste drop-off for residents

Residents may continue to make use of all City Community Recycling Centres (previously called Drop-off facilities) for garden waste disposal, however, a restriction of one load per day per resident will apply during this period.
 
The City acknowledges the inconvenience these temporary measures may cause and appreciates the cooperation of residents and businesses as efforts continue to manage the situation and maintain service continuity.
 
Residents are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly and to comply with site restrictions to ensure safe and efficient operations at all facilities.
